Yalenka hosts the largest Malanka in Southern Alberta each January!
All Yalenka dancers take to the stage to perform a dinner theatre style concert. Guests are fed a delicious meal of Ukrainian favourites. Dancers and guests enjoy an evening filled with live music, dancing, a silent aution, 50/50 raffle and more. Malanka is a season highlight for all Yalenka families.
Our Artistic Director’s vision combined with her creative and choreographic talent allows us to share our folklore and heritage, making it a memorable experience for dancers and audiences alike.
Dancers look forward to participating in the Southern Alberta Ukrainian Dance Festival, Culture FUZE, Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Festival, and the Calgary Ukrainian Festival each year.

Yalenka’s annual Storyline sets our school apart from other dance experiences. This production features every Yalenka dancer from age 3-103!
A unique production created each year, rehearsed throughout the dance season and showcased at our final recital. The Storyline encompasses the entire first act of our recital and involves the whole school, from our youngest dancers to our adult group. The concert also features dances from each class and finishes with the Hopak.
